Sessions & levels
Do I already need to be able to surf to surf at Wellenwerk?
No. In the Beginner Session with a support bar, you’ll be standing on the board within the first few minutes even without prior experience, a coach is with you the whole time. More on how it works on the beginner page.
What’s the difference between the various surf sessions and levels?
The path: your first session is the Beginner Session. From your second or third session onward, the Intermediate Session follows, two coaches work with you on getting up on your own without a support bar and on better turns. If you can get up alone and feel confident, you move on to the Training Sessions. Kids have their own Kids Surf & Splash Session. Details on all levels are on the Indoor Surfing page.
What’s the difference between a Training Session, a Surf Session and a surf course?
The Training Session is for focused training for experienced surfers. It runs as a classic 60-minute format with up to 12 people, or as an intensive 30-minute format with up to 6 people. Regular sessions consist of a warm-up and wave time. The surf course is the most comprehensive: several hours with a theory part and hands-on practice on the wave, more on the surf course page.
Which surf level should I book?
Your first session is always the Beginner Session. After that (usually from your second or third session), the Intermediate Session fits. If you can get up alone and feel confident, book the Training Session, classic (60 min, up to 12 people) or intensive (30 min, up to 6 people). The advanced page helps you figure out where you fit.
How does a session work?
